Axel Springer (1912-85) was the founder & owner of the Springer media empire, Europe's largest newspaper group. Due to his massive public influence, he was one of the most controversial figures in West Germany. In the late 60s he became one of the main targets of the student revolt.
Springer purchased this waterfront property in 1961, his "Villa Tranquillitati" was finished in 1978. Here he hosted politicians, ambassadors, business magnates. His widow sold it in the late 90s.
