Albert Salomon von Rothschild (1844-1911) was the head of the Rothschild bank in Vienna, and the grandson of Salomon Rothschild, the founder of the Austrian branch of the family. Albert also occupied a larger mansion in the same street which was torn down in 1954. The Rothschild family still owns the Palais, it's currently the seat of the Brazilian embassy.
