Jonathan Ogden Armour (1863-1927) was a meatpacking magnate and owner of Armour and Co., once the largest food products company in the US. Forbes ranked him among the seven richest Americans in 1918.
He built "Mellody Farm", a 29,000 sqft Italian-style mansion on a 1,200 acre estate, as a summer home in 1908. Today, it's part of the campus of Lake Forest Academy.
