Originally built for Emilie Queen of Saxony in 1860, the home was purchased in 1914 by American cosmetics entrepreneur Richard Hudnut. The home was frequently used as a summer residence by Hudnut's daughter Natacha Rambova and her husband, actor Rudolph Valentino.

The property is known as Chateau Juan-les-Pins.
