Gus Romero is an heir to the $600 million fortune (estimated) of Socorro Romero Sanchez, a Mexican woman who founded a real estate empire and the Solaris hotel chain in Mexico, the first all-inclusive resorts in Cancun and Cabo. Romero also owns a poultry business in Mexico which produces about 20% of the country's chicken meat and eggs, as well as a firm which is perhaps the largest soybean oil producer in the country.
Romero and his wife Rhonda paid $8.95 million for Rancho Santa Fe estate in 2006. They also own a multi-million dollar compound in the neighborhood of Encino, just outside Los Angeles. Additionally, the couple owns a home in Switzerland to which they reportedly commute via their private Learjet 25.
