(2016-12-05)Michael McCain's new house is in Toronto's trendy Palmerston-Little Italy neighborhood not far from Kensington Market. Purchased in July 2016 for $10 million this townhouse at the north west corner of College and Palmerston used to be a Baptist church. It is perhaps one of Toronto's most unique and lavish homes designed and built by renowned developer J.F. (Joe) Brennan who actually lived in the home before selling to McCain. The house at 510 College St. is unassuming from the exterior masking an interior of soaring ceilings, tavertine walls leading to a grand circular staircase. This is one of a number of homes owned by Michael McCain including a private island in Georgian Bay and his award winning 107 foot carbon fibre sailing yacht Inukshuk. Michael is CEO of Maple Leaf Foods ($4 billion market cap) and its largest (35%) shareholder, he is also scion to the multi-billion dollar McCain Foods frozen food empire founded by his late father, Wallace McCain and uncle, Harrison McCain.
