Gene T. Sykes is a managing director at Goldman Sachs & Co. and is currently serving as CEO of LA 2028, the bid committee that is competing to bring the Summer Olympic Games to Los Angeles in 2028. In his 35-year career at Goldman Sachs, he has advised many of the most significant leaders in technology, media, healthcare, and other industries.

Mr. Sykes has been a member of the board of trustees at Stanford University since February 2014. He is a current member of the GSB Advisory Council and was chair from 2008 to 2010. He was former co-chair of the campaign steering committee that guided the GSB through the five-year Stanford Challenge.

At Stanford, he is an active volunteer for the Graduate School of Business, including admissions and class reunions. He also served on the major gifts regional committee for The Stanford Challenge and on the steering committee for Leading Matters Los Angeles.

Mr. Sykes is a member of the board of directors at Common Sense Media and a trustee emeritus of the National Parks Conservation Association, as well as a long-time trustee of the California chapter of The Nature Conservancy.

Mr. Sykes earned an MBA from Stanford University in 1984 and an AB from Harvard University in 1980.
