(2020-03-20)Jonathan Rothberg is an American scientist and entrepreneur. He is best known for his contributions to next-generation DNA sequencing. Rothberg founded CuraGen, one of the world's first genomics companies, in 1991, while studying at Yale. The company was sold to CellDex Therapeutics in 2009 for $93.5M.
On the front yard of his property, Rothberg had a replica of Stonehenge commissioned (mapped separately on this site) using 700 tons of Norwegian granite.
Rothberg owns a 55M yacht called 'Gene Machine' which contains a fully equipped science lab on board. It is being reported that Rothberg is working aboard his yacht to develop an affordable 30 minute test for Coronavirus (COVID-19) which can deliver results to your smartphone.
