The billionaire founder of Moore Capital, a ~ $15 billion hedge fund, purchased the Orton Plantation in 2010 for $45 million. It was built by his ancestor, Roger Moore, in 1735.
The Orton Plantation is considered to be a near-perfect example of Southern antebellum architecture. During its history Orton Plantation has been attacked by Native Americans, used as a military hospital, and been home to lawyers, physicians, military leaders, and a Colonial governor.
