Arnold von Siemens was the son of German inventor and industrialist, Werner von Siemens (Siemens is the largest Europe-based electronics and electrical engineering company). He used the waterfront mansion as a summer residence from 1889 to 1918. The Siemens family owned it until 1950. Today it belongs to the Immanuel Hospital Berlin.
