Trussardi family house
By Alephs (2014-07-28)
This villa, built in 1570 by architect Girolamo Gallinari, belongs to the powerful Trussardi fashion dynasty. The townhouse's appearance was changed many times in the centuries that followed, all the way until the structural changes in the 20th century. It contains frescoes from the Gian Giacomo Barbelli's school of painting and pieces by Pomodoro, De Chirico, and Margarito. The Trussardi family bought the house in 1983. After redecorating and renovating the villa, they turned it into their family residence and representative office.
The Trussardi fashion empire began in 1911, when it was founded by the furrier Dante Trussardi to produce luxurious gloves, some of them for the British court.
Nicola Trussardi, Dante's nephew, expanded the company in 1970 to produce suitcases, bags, and leather jackets. In 1983, Trussardi launched its first prêt-à-porter collection, named Donna al Teatro, at the Scala in Milan. It then went on to launch its jeans, children, perfume, eyewear, and Tru Trussardi lines. In 1986, Trussardi designed the interiors of Alfa Romeo cars and DC9 aeroplanes of Alitalia.
From 2002, the company's chief executive officer and president is Beatrice Trussardi, and its chief creative director her sister, Gaia. Their mother, Maria Luisa, and brother, Tomaso, the current fiancé of the famous TV host Michelle Hunziker, each own 25 % of the company.
