The company is 100 percent family-owned. As of 2014, Forbes estimates the Ottos' net worth at ~ $18 billion, making them one of the richest families in Europe.
The late patriarch purchased the "Villa M." around 2000 and used it as a primary residence, although he owned several other homes in Germany and Spain.

Peugeot family home (former)

This was once the Saint-Tropez retreat of the famous Peugeot family, which controlled the eponymous French auto manufacturer from 1889 to 2014. Following the recent economic crisis, the family finally agreed to give up control of the business it had been running for generations, now only holding 14 percent of the company's shares.
They sold this Cote d'Azur villa in 1994 to Claude Dray, a French real estate tycoon who was murdered under mysterious circumstances in 2011.
